As this snowy blur of a winter comes to a close, we begin to launch into spring and all of the fashion that comes with it here at LM. This past winter was full of oversized sweaters, cardigans with summery shirts, infinity scarves, and much more. In the fashion world, we now shift from primarily comfortable clothing to fresh, fun, and stylish spring styles. Check out some of the new and recurring trends that I am predicting:

First of all, even though it’s different than the fitted dresses we might be accustomed to, the shapeless shirtdress is a comfy and versatile addition to your closet! A fairly new trend, shirtdresses are simple to accessorize and can be easily paired with almost any pairing of boots and high socks, cute sneakers, or sandals. Find them at Brandy Melville, American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, or thrift and consignment shops.

Next up, let’s look at the traditional Japanese garment that has taken a modern twist over the past couple of years. A fun, flowing, unique outerwear item, the kimono is sure to make a comeback this spring and be a fabulous addition to every outfit. Cotton On, Garage, Brandy Melville, Express, American Eagle, and Urban Outfitters all offer great options.

A wave of skinny jeans swept the 21st century, but now roomy denim is returning to stores. As comfortable as pajama pants and as stylish as classic jeans, a roomy pair of jeans (i.e. boyfriend or cigarette) is an investment you’ll want to make this spring. Some of the best places to shop for them are Lucky Brand, Gap, Old Navy, H&M, Forever 21, Nordstrom, Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters, and thrift and consignment shops.

A semi-new and widespread trend, military green has been present in many wardrobes over the past couple of seasons and continues to live on, whether in army jackets, shorts, jeans, denim shirts, or more. Army green goes great with floral, or almost any pattern, as well as with solid colors. You can find great examples of it at Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Brandy Melville, or thrift and consignment shops.

For decades, overalls and rompers have been a consistent spring trend. Light and comfortable, overalls and rompers are an ultimately effortless option for your spring wardrobe. Cardigans, denim shirts, and jean jackets make great additions to these outfits. Shop for this color at Urban Outfitters, Lucky Brand, Pacsun, Garage, Brandy Melville, Thrift and consignment shops, Etsy.com, or Lulu’s.com.

Finally, adapted from the Middle Eastern traditional harem pants, genie pants have been becoming more and more popular recently. Whether you wear them out to dinner or during a day on the beach, they are guaranteed to satisfy. With their flowing, loose fit, genie pants will definitely be back in style this spring. Fun places to purchase them include Pacsun, Brandy Melville, surf shops, Etsy.com, Polyvore.com, Urban Outfitters, El Quetzal in Suburban Square, and Forever 21.

As for spring footwear, Converse, Oxfords, Mary Janes, gladiator sandals, trendy loafers, and Vans are all great shoe options for the upcoming season.

I hope these tips and predictions help you in all your spring fashion endeavors!
